A stay here isn’t just a getaway — it’s an experience you’ll want to return to.
Year-Round Warm Water — Flint Creek Lake (also known as SWEPCO Lake) was originally built to provide cooling water for the Flint Creek Power Plant. Water flows back from the plant at around 100°F, then disperses through the lake — giving the entire reservoir unusually warm water for Arkansas.
Exceptional Bass Fishing — Because of the warm, stable temperatures, the lake supports a thriving fishery even in cold weather. The warm water creates a long growing season for bass, including Florida largemouth bass, making the lake a winter haven when many other lakes are icy or slow.
“Hot-Tub” Lake Vibe in Winter — Anglers have nicknamed it the “Jacuzzi lake,” because bass stay active and plentiful even in winter months. That means topwater action, big fish, and a reliable draw for fishing tournaments or weekend anglers.
Natural Beauty & Wildlife + Industrial Hum — The lake surroundings attract abundant wildlife, including seasonal bald eagle sightings and other birds drawn to the warm open water. At the same time, the gentle background hum from the distant power plant — source of the warm water — adds a subtle, almost primal backdrop: a constant reminder that this lake is a unique hybrid of nature and energy infrastructure. That unusual blend gives the spot a kind of “quiet hum & stillness” charm, unlike any typical lake house.
Peaceful Setting with Access — The lake is only about 500 acres, giving it a cozy, calm feeling while still offering public access via boat ramp and fishing pier.
